Greatness
Humility
Power
Baby
Creator
Created…

You would say that these are contradictions of terms- Greatness vs. Humility, Power vs. Baby, Creator vs. Created. I call them a firm description of the God I worship. JESUS!

Greatness- Jesus is greatness to the fullest extent. The ONE who knows all, can do all, and is everywhere at once. Humbled Himself with the greatest humility ever known, enough so that every year we celebrate His humility in the form of His birth. So humble that his mother had to change him and wipe his nose. Imagine the great big God who holds the world in His hand in the form of a baby!

Power- Jesus has all power. Kings, queens, presidents have an amount of power, enough to change laws of their countries, and other things. But God has enough power to change the laws of gravity and relativity. This much power in the form of a baby, a helpless little one in need of his mother’s care.

Creator- Jesus created everything you see around you, including you! The whole earth is full of His glory. Even the skies tell of his handiwork. Then became a created man. Fully God and fully man. Such a concept I don’t think I’ll ever understand.

Every year we celebrate Jesus’ birth; every year we forget why we celebrate. After Christmas we tend to go back to our normal lives forgetting what it is that made it so special. The feelings of love, joy and peace, the smiles on stranger’s faces are back to the frowns, coldness and anger. Why? Because, we forget that what he came for was not to give us a time for presents and treats, but it was the beginning, the beginning of proving his love and compassion for us.

These words aren’t contradictions, and they are not just a description, They ARE PROOF. Look at what He did; He gave up everything. Greatness, power, the throne of heaven all of it to come to this imperfect, dusty, mean and nasty earth, so that you and I could know how much He truly loves us.

You see, because He came as a created baby in ultimate humility and perfection, He was able to go to the cross to pay the ultimate sacrifice. He died there that day, a painful, slow and humiliating death.

Here are two more words for you- Life and Death. Another contradiction? NO! Because Jesus died on Calvary, He was able to rise again three days later defeating the power over death. Giving you and I the chance to be saved from eternal death. This is what we should be celebrating, this is what should make us peaceful and fill us with joy!
Eternal life to be spent with this God who loves us that much!!

So these are words that are normally never used together, but isn’t it wonderful that we can use them to describe our God and Savior?!
